Name-Based Case Searches
For Lawrence County Circuit or District Court, remote searching runs through Alacourt ACCESS V2.0, branded Just One Look. It is a paid, one-case-at-a-time service. A name search costs $9.99 and includes one case detail. Pull up a second case from the same results. Another $9.99 is charged. You must register and pay first. No anonymous free searching here. The public pages do not spell out post-login fields such as name, date, wildcard, or result limits. Fill in only the boxes the live service actually shows rather than guessing at options.
- Read any notice, pleading, or ticket first and identify whether the matter belongs to Circuit, District, Probate, municipal, or federal court.
- Create a Just One Look account, accept its terms, and choose Name Search only if no exact case number is available.
- Complete the paid search and open the included detail. Match Lawrence County, the court, the case style, and filing date.
- Open the Case Action Summary and Court Setting Dates. Read the newest entry while keeping older resets in context.
The official Just One Look landing page is shown in the assigned interface capture.
The screen shows the state service behind paid, one-case-at-a-time access, not a Lawrence-only database.
Lawrence County Search Registration
Just One Look puts the real search behind an account gate. The signup form asks for email plus confirmation, password plus confirmation, first, middle, and last name, address, city, state, ZIP, phone number, and agreement to terms. Every one of those is an account field. None of them filters a case search. That distinction matters. Plan a Lawrence County docket search around the fields you actually see after login, not around an assumed birth-date box, status list, or date range.
| Visible control | Type | What is known | Limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Name Search | Search mode | $9.99 with one detail | Post-login fields not public |
| Case Number Search | Search mode | $9.99 with one detail | Exact format help not public |
| Registration | Account gate | Email, contact, password, terms | Required before purchase |
| Images | Optional purchase | $5 first 20 pages | $0.50 each added page |
The official registration screen documents the account step that comes before a paid search.
Those fields help you set up an account. They do not prove which filters appear once you log in.
Case Number Searches
An exact number beats a broad paid name search. Alabama's official diagrams break the identifier into parts. There is a two-digit county code, a two-letter jurisdiction code, a four-digit year, a six-digit serial, and sometimes a suffix. The example 38-CC-2014-000659 shows the shape. Here CC marks Circuit Court, and DC marks District Court. It is only a format sample. Lawrence County's own numeric county code is not stated here. Never guess or substitute one into a search.
Copy the number exactly from an official notice. If it fails, confirm the court. Ask the Lawrence County Circuit Clerk to verify the filed identifier. Appeals and transfers can open a new action with a new number. Keep the old one. Watch for a notice-of-appeal or transfer entry instead of assuming the docket just changed labels.
Note: A number printed on a city citation may belong to a municipal system, not the Circuit and District portal.
Lawrence County Search Fallbacks
A blank remote result does not mean no case exists. First confirm the case belongs in Lawrence County Circuit or District Court. Then contact the Lawrence County Circuit Clerk at Suite 300, 14451 Market Street, Moulton, Alabama 35650. You can also call (256) 974-2432. Alabama Rule 201 requires free public viewing of eligible electronic dockets and court records. That viewing happens at the clerk's office during regular business hours. Copies can cost money.
For a confusing setting, call the Circuit Judge's office at (256) 974-2444. The District Judge's office is (256) 974-2450. Probate files go to the Probate Judge or Probate Clerk. A city offense belongs to Moulton, Town Creek, Courtland, North Courtland, or Hillsboro Municipal Court. Federal matters use PACER. Before mailing anything, have the clerk confirm the current address. The Market Street office replaced an older Court Street and PO Box listing.
Quick path: Just One Look → Circuit Clerk counter or phone → assigned judge for a setting → the separate probate, municipal, or federal custodian.
Case Search Results Explained
A purchased case detail can hold a lot. It can include Court Setting Dates, Court Actions and Rulings, public party information, the Case Action Summary, financial information, and images or attachments you can buy. The Case Action Summary serves as the dated register. Use it to trace filing titles, rulings, clerk notes, settings, resets, and disposition. One caution applies. An entry title may come from whatever the filer typed into AlaFile. It works as an index label rather than the full text of a pleading or order.
| Case Number | Identifies the action and its Circuit or District jurisdiction. |
|---|---|
| Style and Parties | Shows the public case caption and eligible party details. |
| Setting Dates | Lists posted hearings; later reset entries may replace an older date. |
| Actions and Rulings | Records dated events, decisions, notices, and case notes. |
| Financial Information | Shows case costs and financial entries when available. |
| Images | Provides filed pages for a separate charge when the portal has them. |
A portal image is not a clerk-certified copy. For the full distinction, see Lawrence County court case records.
Lawrence County Docket Layers
The first layer worth reading is the Case Action Summary. Work from the oldest event forward. Then check the latest setting and final disposition. The second layer is a purchased image of the actual filing or order. Images cost $5 for the first 20 pages and $0.50 per page after that. The third layer is a certified copy from the Lawrence County Circuit Clerk. No certification fee is published. Call the office for a current quote.
- Setting
- A scheduled court event, which may be moved by a later order.
- Continuance
- A granted move to a later date, not merely a request to move the date.
- Disposition
- The result that resolves a case or a stage of the case.
- Document image
- The actual filed page behind an index entry.
- Certified copy
- A clerk-authenticated copy for official use.
The Alabama electronic court systems overview lays out filing, clerk processing, subscriber reading, and public on-demand reading as separate pieces.
AlaFile access and public docket entry are two different things.
Two Ways to Search: County and State
Lawrence County runs no free local online search for Circuit or District cases. For remote access, the public option is the statewide Just One Look service. It sells records case by case. The data draws on Alabama trial-court systems. Alacourt.com offers the same data through paid subscriptions. Neither is a local channel. The local route is the Lawrence County Circuit Clerk. Reach the clerk by phone or at the counter. That route includes free inspection of eligible electronic records.
| Point | Statewide remote route | Lawrence County local route |
|---|---|---|
| Channel | Just One Look online | Circuit Clerk counter or phone |
| Cost | $9.99 per name or number search | Eligible electronic inspection is free |
| Best use | Known Circuit or District matter | Missing image, setting, archive, or certification |
| Not covered as one queue | Municipal, probate, and federal files | Clerk routes the requester to the proper custodian |
Lawrence County Search Systems
Four names trip people up. AlaFile handles filing and service for registered users. That covers attorneys, self-represented people, and self-represented businesses. AlacourtPlus is the processing layer that clerks and judges use. Alacourt.com gives subscribers read-only access, and Just One Look sells on-demand public purchases. Assuming they are one tool can push a Lawrence County user toward the wrong login. The official AlaFile login shows the filing gateway itself.
That login exists for filing and service, not for browsing. A public Lawrence County docket search belongs in Just One Look or at the clerk counter.
Which Cases Stay Restricted
Some records stay closed even when other Lawrence County dockets are open. Alabama law makes juvenile legal and social records confidential under Ala. Code § 12-15-133. Youthful-offender records are restricted by Ala. Code § 15-19-7. Adoption filings are permanently sealed under Ala. Code § 26-10E-3 unless a judge grants access for good cause. Judges can also seal a record or order a redacted public version. Protected identifiers get redacted under the Alabama Rules of Court-Record Privacy and Confidentiality and Civil Rule 5.1. Expunged matters and unserved warrants do not behave like ordinary public results either. The Lawrence magistrate page is blunt. An unserved warrant is not public. When a case is missing from Just One Look, the reason may be simple. It may sit in a different court, be an old non-imaged file, or carry a lawful restriction. A party or authorized person should ask the owning clerk. The request should state the legal basis for access.
Free Lawrence County Docket Viewing
The biggest access change arrived in 2025. Rule 201 of Alabama's court-record rules requires every Circuit and District clerk to let the public view eligible electronic dockets and court records for free during regular office hours. Copy fees and postage may still apply. Remote service stays on the paid subscriber or on-demand model. Lawrence County lists clerk hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Wednesday is simply omitted, so call ahead rather than guess. The rule creates a free in-office channel. The county does not say where a terminal sits or whether staff run searches. Ask at the Suite 300 counter, and bring the court name and case number if you can.
